America’s Seed Fund, $4B, is the largest source of early-stage, non-dilutive funding in the United States. The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs are highly competitive and encourage small businesses to explore their technological potential in the Federal marketplace. 11 different federal agencies participate in funding various technological areas.
BioConnect Iowa administers a comprehensive and successful statewide outreach program. We take a strategic approach and have recently doubled the BioConnect Iowa grant for Phase I awarded companies (from $25K to $50K) for those who apply starting July 1, 2023. The outreach program includes 100% paid third party proposal assistance to prepare the application, in addition to a $50,000.00 grant from BioConnect Iowa to the company for a Phase I award. We assist in the management of Phase I to Phase II and submission of Phase II. Upon submission of Phase II application, the company is eligible for an additional $25,00.00 for a total of $75,000.00 in addition to the federal contract or grant to provide “gap” funding between the end of Phase I project and the Phase II research. Iowa’s success rate is triple the national average at 34%. One in three proposals that we contribute to are funded vs the national average of 10-15% funding rate. BioConnect Iowa is pleased to co-host America’s seed Fund SBIR/STTR Road Tour on Friday July 21, 2023 in Ankeny at the FFA Enrichment Center 8:00am-2:30pm. Iowa is the final stop on their tour through the Midwest. This will be an opportunity to hear from and meet with several federal agency program managers to discuss your technology.
