First, as previously mentioned, a lot of wonderful and talented people spent Monday afternoon chatting with folks at the Iowa State Capitol, as explained in the Iowa State Daily. CIRAS had a table between the coffee and the Athletic Dept. staff, and absolutely no one wanted to take a picture with our trophies.
- The Iowa State Daily also has a story on the planned expansion of the ISU Research Park in Ames. (Fyi, The last paragraph mentions a building that eventually will house CIRAS.)
- Elsewhere, a website called 24/7 Wall Street has a piece citing Federal Reserve numbers and tying the lousy state of Texas manufacturing with low oil prices. More bad news may be coming, according to the article.
- According to KRCG-TV, the Greater Burlington Partnership announced Monday that its sold 36 acres of land at a local business park to California-based Silgan Containers. The company apparently plans a $25 million can-manufacturing plant that will employ 120 people.
- The Des Moines Register says there’s a conference being planned for March 25 and 26 on the walkability of downtown Des Moines and what can be done to improve things for pedestrians. It’ll be sponsored by Urban Land Institute Iowa.
That’s enough for now. Stay warm.
